Shereá Denise is a writer and lover of all things social work and social justice related. She currently resides in North Carolina, where she is a full-time Social Worker and an Adjunct Professor at a local college.

Shereá has been a lover of words since childhood. Though her love of words began with reading fiction and writing poetry in elementary school, it graduated into an adoration for autobiographies and essays while she was in college.

ThisWomansWords was created while Shereá was in law school. Immediately following graduation, she began actively contributing to blogs, beginning first with The Trifecta Tribe and later joining the team at SOULE.

Shereá was inspired to pursue writing as her own form of activism after being introduced to the work of the phenomenal Pauli Murray, who was a historian, attorney, poet, activist, teacher, and Episcopal priest. It was through Pauli Murray's own life story that Shereá began to see herself and the power of her words more clearly.

ThisWomansWords is intended to be a site that represents the power of words and knowledge in a few of the areas that Shereá is most passionate about: social justice, personal growth and development, and natural hair.

It is Shereá's hope that each person who visits this site will take something substantive from it, be it an answer to a question or the desire to learn more about a specific topic. It is also Shereá's goal to foster a sense of community among those who want to learn, write, and do more for the various groups of people that they represent.

True community is based on... equality, mutuality, and reciprocity. It affirms the richness of individual diversity as well as the common human ties that bind us together.
