Winona LaDuke is an Indigenous environmental activist, economist, and writer known for her advocacy for Native sovereignty, land rights, and sustainable development. A member of the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) Nation, she co-founded the White Earth Land Recovery Project, which works to reclaim and restore Anishinaabe lands and traditions. She is also the founder of Honor the Earth, an organization dedicated to Indigenous environmental justice, particularly in opposition to fossil fuel pipelines. LaDuke has been a leading voice in the fight against climate change and resource exploitation, emphasizing the importance of Indigenous knowledge in sustainability efforts. A two-time U.S. vice-presidential candidate for the Green Party, she continues to be a prominent advocate for Indigenous rights and environmental protection.
